I struggle with this one too I am always changing out waterers. I started putting the water founts up on bricks & that helps. I put an 8" by 16" or a 12" round or sq. stepping stone down first then a brick on top of that. That gives them a platform to step up onto that has no shavings & them the fount above that on a regular brick. I have to add levels depending on size of chicks as they grow & then when they are old enough for the outside pens the waterers are hanging & adjustable.

Not only do I hatch more cockerels than anyone else ... ... .

BUT does anyone want to challenge me to a " YOUNGEST CROWING COCKEREL" contest ? ? ?

I have a cockerel in the house that is NOT EVEN 3 WEEKS old yet . .. AND . . . he is crowing!

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT ? ? ?

Morning Everyone!!!!!

It's a beautiful morning here in Washington. Hope everyone else is seeing the same and gets to enjoy some sun today.

I'm meeting up with a BYC'er this morning.....Batty for Bantams. She is getting 5 Marans chicks (2 Black Coppers & 3 Blue Coppers) and one Wellie and my little surprize Barnevelder pullet that hatched. Ain't anything else like chicken crazy BYC folks that make the day go round and then add getting to meet some of our fellow BYC'ers from time to time.......LIFE IS GRAND!!!!!

There is a glare on some of these Pictures but the little fleck of white on his upper neck (is that hackle)? in top left
picture, it seems like he fought with something and it tore some of his feathers . The rest of the areas that seam to have little thin white lines are all the light playing tricks. thanks for taking time to check him out.
