Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Germaine,

I don't see any white feathers on the first roo either. I think it's the glare from the camera or the angle of the feathers with light reflecting off of them. I do see the white tail tip on the second roo, but that one should molt out I would think?

Don,

Do the blended type of hackle colors mean that the roo has a gene for the straw coloring? That would be the only concern for me with the first roo.

Thank you very much everyone! I will go out and look when it gets lighter and see about the white feathers. So much info... blending, faults, creeping... all I can think of is wow! I am sure glad I posted the pictures.

Morning Debbi and Germaine!

Germaine~ Ok... I see the white feather on the second roo...thanks to Debbi for pointing it out. I would hope that it molts out too.

And Good Morning! I hope it molts out too. I will try to get some better pictures of the blade on roo #3 but I am doing alot of running around this weekend and it may not be until Monday. But then I will get them all!

AHH! Thank Goodness y'all didnt see any white ....as I thought that I might really need bifocals after all!

Ok, I know I'm not going crazy! Is anyone else seeing political ad banners on the BYC home page?? I posted this in the Feedback Forum, two people responded they aren't seeing them. This one is obviously targeted to Missouri people, and bashing a very hard working and nice woman. I really object to this and said so in my other post! Anyone in here from Missouri seeing these, or have I lost my mind???

Debbi, I don't believe this blended Hackle is wheat colored. I think it is just a lighter color of copper. When you see one with the wheat or yellow hackle it is really easy to pick it out of a bunch of Marans. Far as I know there is nothing mentioned in proposed standard on Blended Hackle. That is one complaint I have on the proposed Standard and that is that things are not spelled out as being faults and DQ's. Too much is left to our imagination and will come back to bite us eventually.

Debbi,

I too am a chicken lover with Marans and I too was hit by lightning! SO this should be a small club. If you don't mind I will PM you sometime to talk. Let me know. I am fairly new here to the Marans groups, but am a friend with Wynette and have some of her birds. It would just be interesting to talk, if you don't mind.

Dave

HI, DAVE!!!!! Was just thinking about you!! When were you hit by lightning??
