Congrats on getting your future babies!! Be sure to let them rest for a good long time, preferably at least 12 hours, before putting them in the incubator or under the broody!!
Debbi, I've alerted Nifty...I'm sure he'll have it taken care of soon! Thanks - in the future, please click the "report" button - that will let the entire Staff know so that whoever sees the report first can get to work on it immediately! We sure can't have that sort of rot on our home page!!
Alrighty then, back to Marans! Remember Pip?? Today she? is 4 weeks old. Everyone thought her to be a big pullet a couple of weeks ago, but lately, I'm starting to see roo. Already getting hackle coloring, and some copper showing on the wing area. Wish I could get better shots of her/him, but standing still for more than a second is not her forte!
So, what do you think now?
I will say this, the normal posture is usually very upright. Seems like when I hit the button, she sat down every time! The fluff on her looks white in the pics, but in fact, is a very dark gray. The hackle color looks straw in the pics, but is somewhat darker in person. My others didn't even start to get any coloring until about 3 weeks ago, at 6 weeks. Soooo??? Frankly, I need a good roo!
I am excited! I got 2 new babies last night! both are splash marans out of a pen of blue coppers and splashes. One is 4 weeks and 1 is a single survivor that is 3 days old! I am hoping for pullets! My blue copper rooster would love a couple more girls!
chasehope Congrats!! I hope the little one has company? Poor Pip is not happy being alone. I gave him a bear to cuddle with when little, and now he has a mirror to talk to. How 'bout some pics of your new babies??!!
