Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Susie and Vicki,

Hope you both fared well last night. There's a line of storms coming in here now, already with warnings. At least it should break the heat for a bit. My darned AC unit isn't working right, so last night was really warm in the house, like 78. Not good for sleeping

Will see if I can get it going today, but seems they make these things so cheaply these days, that they only last a few years. Sealed units that don't allow you to work on them. Stay well everyone, I should be back for a bit after the storms pass by.

Well....there were tornado watches and extreme high winds, but I was so tired I slept through most of it. I haven't yet gone out to look and see what damage there might be. I am hesitant to mostly because I don't know that I am quite ready for whatever might greet me yet. Today is my day off, I was hoping for some gardening, but I don't know if that will work or not if it rained too heavily. I do have some people to sell birds to today, so hopefully that will go smoothly...

Stay safe Debbi! These storms have to end soon and let summer finally win out eventually, right?

We here in the PNW keep thinking the summer might start.... Rained again last night.... We have yet to have anything resembling a normal summer day... last week it was 51 here... Yesterday looked pretty good and then it started pouring.

I hope you guys are weathering your storms!!! Keep your heads down..

Sorry to hear about the power failures... I had that happen in December.... Ruined several of the "key" hatches... I am going to fire up the bator again to make up for it... DRAT!!! We can commiserate next week and all start new hatches...

Geebs,

Getting ready to move to the Medford area and have been watching the disappointing temps and wondering if I'm going to be able to grow ANYTHING there? Please tell me this is not how it normally is

This is not normally how it is and you are going to be living in a area that gets more sun and is usually drier than us. Heck summer will be here before spring ever had the opportunity to show it's fresh face.

you're right Kim. It's like we've just had the end of winter for the last three months with a few spring days thrown in.

So ready for a few days of sun
