The one thing that ain't growin today.... OPTIMISM.... My poor babies.. Waterlogged again... just when I was gaining some ground on my coop... I even had GRASS GROWING..... The sun came out and beckoned the grass to sprout up and...... BE DROWNED!!

Geebs,

Getting ready to move to the Medford area and have been watching the disappointing temps and wondering if I'm going to be able to grow ANYTHING there? Please tell me this is not how it normally is

Moss grows very well here.....

So does Thistle, Scotch Broom, Tansey and a wide range of Mushrooms....

Here's my babies from Pinkchiks who hatched on the 29th. Blues & BCMs some are big boys/girls for sure & others are smaller but very lively. I got 11 running around with my other chicks in the frontporch brooders.
We installed new nipple waterers in PVC pipe in the brooders & the smart little guys took right to them........And I was worried that they would know what to do......LOL

Ohh how cute! Love the yoyo quilt (or is it a tablecloth?)too! I started making all different shades of blue yoyo's for a quilt years ago and never finished it.
You know what that means...yoyos turning up everywhere LOL! I really need to finish it. I've seen the coolest things made from yoyos.

I need to get some pics up but its been so darn hot I can't make myself go out and chase chickens around lol.

The 3 girls that I have kept for myself this year. They are just over 3 mos. old. They are just now starting to get some copper.

2 of them are half Davis, the other half Bill. Can't tell by the size can you?

The smallest one taking a little nap in the sun ray to the right is pure Davis.

This gal is my favorite. She is the biggest of the 2 Bill cross Davis.

My Splash Copper or Splash Birchen boy....what ever he is....decided to come in for a landing yesterday on my arm. He is a sweetie. Since he was being so loveable yesterday I took advantage and got some close-ups of his hackles.....I SWEAR THIS BOY IS BIRCHEN. 2 of 3 test eggs I put from him and my Baby Blue made it to lockdown yesterday. Will post close-ups later after work. I also found one tiny feather stub in between his outer toe and middle toe yesterday.

Geebs~ I got photos of the lowrider yesterday and will post some of them later for you.......I found his comb to be very stupid with an extra tiny point in between two of his regular points yesterday....not out the side, but straight in the middle. Sorry he is a "no go"....that's "no go" anywhere 'cept to the freezer.

That makes me feel better that I didn't get out to get photos yesterday. I don't have any idea how today will end up going, but for now...I'm waiting for someone to come that is picking up birds. Then I have another round to gather up to deliver and rearranging chicks pens for me. Somehow it always seems that my days off are more packed than my days at work.

Those are some lovely ladies Kim! And yeah...I'd be willing to bet that your boy is a birchen...I've had a few with really similar markings come through. They have never been ones I've kept since I've been angling for a really nice blue birchen boy and they have always had more gold on them than the blue boys I've kept.

I'm excited to hear how your hatches from him are going. Now that I am in my second hatching season out of my birchens..the coloring on the chicks shows even sooner, so I'm curious how it will go for your chicks color development.
