hey! you scared me for a second. Did you mean that cuckoo/birchen cockerel cross I posted pics of a couple of days ago...or where you talking to someone else. The part that scared me tho is the fact that I do have a cockerel growing out maybe a week or two older than your boy that is his twin!! I was thinking in the back of my mind...."how did she know what I had growing out?!"

I can't wait to see the blue birchens!!

He's out of the dinosaur stage now really to me it looks like they have columbian .....I crossed my Splash guy with a Delaware and it's barred with a silver neck and has the gold gene from Dad I only hatched a few and wouldn't you know they are all boys I wanted a pullet to see how much darker the eggs Splish gave to his daughters.....they are very pretty boys and very big crossing Delawares into another breed seems to add lots of size and they are going to mature very fast I bet they'll taste just like chicken.....I quess I should take a picture tomorrow someday I'll get the photos to load.....remember you did post pictures of that chick and it was eerie seeing a twin to mine maybe I'll save him and cross him to a Delaware and see what happens he seems kind enough to let hang around

Finally I can load some what a PITA had to use explorer ugh

These are the best ones from my first hatch I ordered eggs got 16 and hatched 11 very good for shipped Marans eggs. I have many splits and many with too many stubs for me on the middle toes several of the culls are very big birds no comb faults so far it looks like the eye color will be good they came from #5 eggs. I hatched some earlier from a different breeder they had yellow legs and no feathering so I took them to the sale barn egg color was almost a #4 what a watse of my time though they hatched out well also.

This is my best pullet and she does have a tail just not many feathers left on it right now and not a stub with nice feathering all the way to the end of the toe.

She's okay has a few stubs it seems the girls do not have heavy leg feathering as much as the boys. I hatched 2 more shipments out of 56 total eggs I hatched 48 these eggs were very hatchable the best of all my shipped eggs this year so I hope that trait passes on

I'm pretty sure this guy is a cull I think he's split but his feathering isn't as extreme I have a black male that I don't think is a split maybe too much feathering but not many stubs either but he wouldn't stand still for a picture I'm planning on keeping 2 roosters and 3 pullets maybe 4 they didn't like the photo shoot at all and they are still very gangly but I marked who I think is good enough to keep so I'll know later if I was right because I'll wait as long as I can before I cull out the last cockerels since they take so stinking long to mature

okay here are my Salmons I have 3 but the last one is still pretty young so I didn't take any pictures of him....who knows how they will turn out but they remind me of my Partridge Rocks colorwise which is good I hope the male's color will be pretty spectacular when he's done feathering out. I can always try again next year to hatch a few more they are pretty rare I'm hoping the egg color is good enough they came out of #5 eggs too.

HOLY SMOKE! He's purty! Jees. I don't need another variety right now, but this is tempting me to try my luck with some blue/black/splash.

Debi-YES! It was blazing hot again today. I had a buyer here today, and I was soaking wet with sweat every time I came back in the house. It's supposed to cool off this weekend. That will be such a welcome relief! I have another buyer coming tomorrow evening, so hopefully it will be a little cooler by then.

Hi Susie!

I feel like I've spent most of the last whole year in the house! Frigid winter, wet spring, too darned hot summer! One more day of hot hot today, then tomorrow should be a bit cooler with rain coming in Sat. night and Sunday. My daughter and family will be here on Sat.!

I finally get to meet my new Grandson!

I placed an ad to sell off my culls with the stupid combs, as Marans Xs. So far, only one response to the ad. The pullets are coming up on POL, with my luck, they will lay a nice dark egg.

Too many roos running around here too, will have to start eating some of my mistakes once the weather cools off. The thought of plucking chickens in this weather just makes me want to gag!

dldolan - LOVE the splash boy crowing pic - I think someone should make a rooster crowing pic contest! Someone probably has already at some point, but I just love those pics!

ETA: Lotsapaints - did your Salmons come from Connie?
