I've been pointing that out to them for 4 years, do you think they remember? NO!

Happy Friday Everyone!

I have the most pathetic molter ever....happens to be a Marans. Getting a new camera today so I will definitely post pics of her. She will make you all cry. I have never seen a bird molt like this.....she looks like she was tossed into a plucker for a couple minutes and then tossed in the dryer. Missing feathers everywhere. I could make myself 2 extra large feather pillows with the amount of feathers I got all over the place. Geesh!

Marquisella~ I am getting a bird that is from your stock from Zanna....don't know exactly when, we are still working that out. He is a beauty and I am very excited to get him here and mess around with him.

Sounds exciting! Getting a new roo to work with eh? Lucky Lucky! And...and a new camera!! What a great way to start your weekend!

Sold three, stupid combed pullets last night!! The woman just wanted them for the nice eggs. I asked her if she wanted a free roo?? Nope, we don't need any stinking roosters messing up the girls!

Three gone makes a big dent in a small flock, but 4 more hens/pullet need to go, then it's time to get the roos gone. With this cold snap we've had, Blue Butt has become very aggressive towards me and my male dog. He attacked me while getting into my truck last evening, and even knocked my cane out of my hand!

Then he stood there glaring at me with his hackles flared, and was ready to fight me. Luckily, I was driving up to the mailbox to kill some wasps in it, and had a can of bug spray in my hand. He took a step towards me, and I launched the can at him, smacking him in the head. That backed him up enough that I could bend down and grab my cane, and when I did, I smacked him with that, and chased him halfway through the front yard, screaming obsenities at him all the way!.

I'm pretty sure the teenagers up the road may have learned a few new words!

He now has a new name, which I can't write here, and has so far avoided me like the plague this morning...the big jerk. Guess I'll have to go buy a really BIG stock pot for him, he is huge!

Pink ~ Mine are all molting here as well. Like you said, looks like a huge pillow fight ensued! Bald backs (roos helped with that too), balding necks, wings, tails dropping out, etc. Poor Clyde is running around with a stump of a tail, it looks pitiful! Can't wait to see your new boy, posted with a new camera!

Yay for the dent in your stock!! Not long and you will have them all thinned out and ready for winter. Wish I could say the same. I'm working at it and already ear marked another 6 boys or so for culling and a few more girls going for layers in a few different breeds. And I think I already have a buyer for quite a few of those. I really am looking forward to seeing how my pens shape up as I keep culling and thinning out. I must get a pic of some of my black copper girls...they are looking really nice now that they have graduated up to Gigantor's pen...they have filled out a ton since they run on the lawn all day chasing bugs and the occasional toad haha

Debbi--If I were you I'd use that cane like a baseball bat and see just how far his head would fly. I used to be able to bat a baseball or softball over our big barn, so I bet I could get his head to fly far enough I could run to first base at least.
