She should start to lay any day....I will sneak in some of her eggs to hitch a ride to WA.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments!

The GCM egg is really big for a pullet egg... she has been laying for a couple of weeks, but it was never very small.

I have noticed this also, a couple of the breeds we have including the Marans seem to lay bigger eggs from the start!

Very nice Blue Copper Pullet, the only thing that would worry me would be if the wing carriage that shows here is normal for the pullet, if this is normal she has a slipped wing, Sorry.

Don - you have such a good eye for details - I agree, but do you mean "split" wing? I'm not familiar with "slipped" wing, or is that the same thing?

Don~ Are you making this assumption by looking at the feathers that are poofed out just before the fold, sorta toward the front of the bird? Does this show you that it folds the wrong way?

I didn't think her wing looked normal, either, but I had no idea what to call it, or if this is just a picture-angle thing or something.

Hey Wynette, Split and slipped are two different wing faults. The slipped wing would be the primary wing feathers would hang down a little giving the look of weak carriage. look on page #20 and figure 35 of the 2001 SOP. Looked it up for you. We might should go over some of the Faults and give examples of what to look for when deciding what to look for.

Thank you, Don!!! I will get more pictures of her from the side to be sure. It would be helpful for me as well to know what part of her wing you are referring to.

OK...I'm going out to take more pictures!

Thanks, Don - I don't have the '01 SOP, mine is the most recent copy (2010), but I'll take a look at the wing faults. Man, I need to start bringing my SOP with me all the time...this is about the 10th time something has come up and I don't have my SOP with me (I'm at work). That drives me bonkers!
