Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

The judge would fault the toe being broken and most likely would cause the male to not be picked as a winner. Lot depends on how many are in the class.

that is what I figured, I know he didn't have a broken toe when he went to fair and had judging this year so we are thinking he did it when we brought him back home again.

Geebs, tried to pm you, box was full so sent email

I would much rather have the opportunities to learn than take anything personally.

OK...I got more pictures of her. Wing evaluation time Don....and your expert advice on how to fix split wings would be greatly appreciated! I don't 'think' her wings look as bad as they did in the first pic...but would love to know your thoughts.

The wing on this pullet is a good example of how the wing should be folded. I will also ad that you should try and use the best Comb male you have on her and he should have good leg feathering also.

Will also ad that the Cuckoo has white ear lobes.

Blue Copper Marans Pullet with Slip Wing.

First thing on this pullet you would not want to breed her back with anything related to her up close. Try and find a male that is not close related and single mate.

Before we go ahead couple of questions first, what males do you have available to breed her to.

I only have her blue copper dad at the moment. I intended to order another batch of black copper chicks from the breeder I got the original birds from (Culpepper) in attempts to get a decent BCM male. Unless you have another suggestion??

White lobes.....On my way out to look at the GC again! LOL

LOTS of bird studying and RE-studying is required when Don takes the time to comment!!!
