Those are some nice looking birchens you have growing up. I am drooling @ your lavender silver sussex. I NEED one of those too LOL! Very cool.
Sassy is just fine. Its funny she hasnt gotten fowl pox and the others did but she doesn't hang out with those silly chickens, she's a turkey LOL. Yesterday evening dh took his cell phone outside and was sitting in the lawn chair playing these 'turkey calls' that he downloaded on his phone and OMG both the turkey hens started acting all perverted and strutting around with thier feathers ruffled and squatted down like they wanted to be mated! I was totally lmao and Sassy was looking at them like what's wrong with you freaks?
I'm gonna have to get you some better pics...i so owe you them after how long. Its been a hard last month and a half with my back giving me fits for most of it. I have a lavender silver pullet too...but she is terrifyingly shy...she is just so stinking sweet that all the others just walk all over her. But she is a loooooker!
I'll have to see if the weather isn't too bad tomorrow if I can get her and her man caught up so I can get better pics. I still need to see about getting my hands on a pair of silver sussex if possible since it is obvious that the lavenders need that blood infused into the line to improve feather condition. That's the only part I don't like about lavender...is the tendency for frizzy-ness.
I have quite a few birchens growing out....I should just catch them all up and make another pass through, culling them down more for winter. Just off the top of my head I have right around 35 to 40 probably. They are the color variety I'm giving the most time to grow out so that I can see how they do.
That's hilarious that your dh was playing turkey calls and I love Sassy's response. Smart girl!
