They are all so cute! What a fun combination of chickens. But what the heck is the black spotted white with the black tuft? Looks like she has a little pill box hat on!

love those new layers! Sounds like you had a good day. Did more coop/run cleaning today, and I'm broken!

Still need to till the main run and mow the grass before we might get rain on Monday. We sure could use it, but it has been BEAUTIFUL here for the last week plus!

Mary, thank you for the pictures. It's so great to see Smoky with Blue and the other girls. I wonder if she is behaving better now that there's a rooster to keep her in check? She was getting pretty mean to the Ameraucana sisters. And Smoky is so magnificent!!

hey hey Debbi! sounds like you had a productive day!

It was a good day here! I should be working on all the same things, but just can't do much at a time with my back still being a pain. It rained off and on all day here, so I didn't end up getting the photos I had wanted to take that I'd promised Lynette. Yarg! I'll get them eventually. The only sucky part of the day is that I think I need a new muffler on my truck. I had to run up to my uncle's to do chores for him while he's out of town and I think taking the back gravel roads might have knocked something loose. I am not all the happy about it since I had my truck into the shop just last week.

Ahhh, just get out a wire coat hanger!

With some of the old beaters I've driven in my day, I always had a hanger, a pair of pantyhose, water, oil, brake fluid, a couple of hoses and clamps...you get the drift!

hahaha....I wish I was that handy at such things...its really annoying me that it seems when it rains it pours. Fall is always the time when I end up having the most expenses. Then comes christmas and etc...I'm good at a lot of things, but auto stuff is not one of them. Luckily I make a lot of my gifts and got a head start on shopping for this year.

Hi there....Im a newbie to it all & missed out on all the heated debating...
big_smile.png

I got a 12 month old Rooster from the animal welfare here in Australia. They say he's a Chinese Silky. Im new to the chicken world, so I put my hand up to say I know
absolutely ZIP!!
thumbsup.gif

I was looking at his feet, & there are some pretty thick, hard feathers & quills sticking out of his feet including under them. Is this ok for them to walk on or should I
trim them? I'll be looking at an angle grinder to do that I think....

they're very thick & hard (calluses gone wrong?? LOL)

Here's some pics of him for your deliberations....

Oh my, my avatar is confusing you. Chic-a-dee, you need to ask that in one of the many Silkie threads, this is for Marans.

As for the foot feathering, it shouldn't be on the bottoms of his feet. Are you sure they are not just long, and hanging over the sides of his toes? Here is the link to one of the more active Silkie threads.
