I was recently stopped by a woman in the Safeway parking lot who say me get out of my truck and she had stopped to read my bumper stickers and hollered at me. She asked if she could give me a hug because of the Jimi Hendrix bumper sticker, Of course I gave her a hug.

OK, just worried that you guys would come cross country to protest. My husband has ALMOST gotten arrested here in NY a few times, and goes to DC, too.
I told him he is on his own if I have to travel to another state to bail him out!

A good friend of mine is a documentary photographer / active protester who is heavily involved in the whole OWS events taking place... Anyway, I digress - back to the Marans

Kim, Was looking back at some of the pictures and believe I would keep this Blue Copper male for a while. he would be good to breed to a Splash female that isn't his sister. Just a little pointer on the leg feathers, check and see if he has the raised line down his shanks and toes where the feathers would come. Some do not have a continous line down the shank and toe and should be culled.

Thanks Don!
I do have my Splash female that is not related to him..so later after I have tested her with Lil' Bill and I have more time I can test her to him if he is still here. He is still here for now. Oh and he has nicely feathered shanks and has feathers on his outer toe. I am hoping that I get some Splash chicks out of the eggs that are under the broody. It's been a while since I had some Splash babies running around.

Oh and I will go back and look for the comb photos for you and post a link so they are easier to find! Thanks again my Friend!

Hens~ You asked about how solid Black, Blues and Splash are being produced....they are produced using Silver Cuckoo believe it or not. Not sure of all the ingredients and how to's, but positive that someone who knows will come by and clue us in.

I know Bev is working on them currently as she finally got a Blue cockerel this year that shows promise. Wonder how she is coming along on that?
Try the Marans groups if you can, I believe this might be your best place to start.

For crying out loud..............Darryl is broody AGAIN!!!!!!!

She has been in the nest box for 3 days. She is getting the one and only surviving Barnie cockerel that hatched. I ended up putting down 2 and one was dead in the brooder yesterday when I got home. ARGH!!! Darryl is the broodiest girl I have ever had.

Hi all,

Stormy here today, so been off the puter. Put my eggs in lockdown this morning. Out of 18 eggs, there were three clears, and two quitters, so I have 13 in lockdown. One is rocking already. Hoping for some nice Blues and Splashes!!
