I make enough to fill a 5 gallon bucket for the 45 birds that I have now, when I had more birds I made 2- 5 gallon buckets of it. I take away all other feed for the day and replace with this....when this is all gone they can have regular rations back. I do mix in some wet all purpose to make it go just a little farther and to add some more substance (not like it needs it...it's so thick to begin with), it is not much, maybe a 2 pound scoop or so.

I missed something? What are you making and how do you make it? I have a garden full of pumpkins and was going to feed some to the birds anyway. I am not paying $8 for a pumpkin.... or picking them up in a field after pumpkin chunkin'

Don't worry...I'll PM ya...

Thanks!

While we are kinda on the subject of food.... My son was at wally world the other day and the produce guy was tossing TONS of veggies and fruit out. Has anyone had any luck getting some of that for the birds? It just seemed like a good way to cut your feed and give them a good variety of fresh (sort of) produce.... like pumpkins....

Hey Kim....I don't know how I missed your reply, but wanted to say thanks! I'm gonna do some errands tomorrow and pick up some supplies for my birds to store for the winter. Its gonna be a busy weekend!

oh and Debbi...my hand is healing really well....its already sealed shut and looks great! How did the coop winterizing go today? I spent a low key day working on my list of to dos, running for hay, sortin some birds and etc...tomorrow I hope to start working on winterizing.

Good deal...makes me feel better hahaha. I hear its supposed to be pretty nice here this weekend too, so it will be great for working outside.

It was amazing out today me and the girlies (human) went the the little steam train here and then to the park...then home to carve pumpkins

Hi yall it's been a while since i've been able to get on here and read, i've got a bunch of reading up to do. My marans have started laying, and i'm getting some nice dark eggs, i've culled down to some nice roosters, and plan on trying some breeding this spring to see what i get. I have a question for you marans experts, I have kept one super super nice rooster, with the exception of ONE thing, a side sprig. Would you use him for breeding? He is a really nice rooster, good type, nice color, good tail angle, heavy(haven't weighed him), of course i'm not as knowledgable as a lot of you are, so any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Lisa
