Are you saying that you will have roosters that have nice shank feathering and feathering on the toes or feathering on just the outer toe??

If it is feathering on the outer toe only on these roosters then I would definitely do some test mating with her and your heavily feathered roo...you might find that you like the results. I have used sparsely feather shanked birds with birds that have nice shank feathering and have produced some very nice results. You may get a couple of chicks that have sparse to light feathered shanks and you could just selll them for layers or such and keep the ones that have the better feathering.
I have a clean legged rooster that I have used for breeding in the past and will use again for breeding, I am just very sure to not mate him over any other clean legged or sparsely feather shanked birds.

Seriously though....need new photos of the little light colored one if you can, please. The photo you have leaves a very yellow cast from the lighting. Sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see this little cutie again.

hey you! That must have been some nasty migrane! I'm reading on recipes for makin my own flock block for my chickens this winter. I am gonna make smaller ones for each pen and make up extras and freeze them so I only have to make them a couple of times this winter I would think

Oh that sounds awesome! Where'd you get the recipe?

from what i undetstand is blues are born darl color a lmost black. she looks loke a blue but i know little about blues but my question would be eye color

Hi Randy!

Some blues can be born very dark blue that makes them look black and believe you me they can be very tricky to tell apart from the black ones until they start to feather out...then slowly these little subtle changes start happening..but anywhoser...they can range fromvery light blue to very dark blue and anything else in between. My fav's are the ones in between and the very very dark ones.

found several recipes on here...i'm going to modify it to include some of the things that I'd like them to have and experiment with the binders to see how they work out. I just did a search on the forums for flock block.

mornin by the way

I plan on making a supply run to lincoln today for things I usually need for them and to pick up some of my other ingredients. I'll write down everything I add and approx. amounts and share if it goes well! ok?

Peach, Mammie's hackle feathers are too light (straw colored), and she exhibits feather shafting (where the shafts of the feathers are lighter than the feathers). Neither of these are disqualifications, but both would result in her getting deductions. It's up to you regarding whether to use her or not for breeding toward SOP; I would personally not, but I suppose if you have a very dark rooster, that might offset these negative attributes in Mammie's offspring.

HI!

Mammie doesn't have too much copper, but she does have what appears to be too light in copper (or it could be the sun shining directly in on her making her look too light) but what she does have is shafting in the breast and this is said to be indicitive of the Wheaten influence.

However....they are both very beautiful girls! Love that RIR, she knows she is purdy!

Is it possible to get a closer shot of LaMar?

*edited to add* and yep, what Wynette said.
