The cockerel that Don suggested that I keep for a while. He is getting more copper but it is dark and for the life of me I couldn't get it to show up in the photos. Even though he is older than Lil' Bill, he is just now starting to fill out and is looking more and more like him everyday.

That little bit of Bill blood he has in him sure does show...especially in the chest.

*edited to add* a very fuzzy photo of the copper coming in on this male in wing bow and saddles..this photo was taken almost a month ago. He has even more now..wonder why he is taking so long to mature and how come I can't get the copper to show up in the other photos. ARGH! Sometimes photo'ing the birds and getting accuracy can be as hard as getting accurate photos of the egg color.

Not Pink, but here is what I like. Nice blue coloring with breast lacing, an even, medium blue color. Copper hackles and saddle, deep red wing bow. Nicely feathered shanks/toes. No white feathers or fluff. Pretty much the same you would look for in a BCM, only in blue. So many shades of blue too! I also have a very dark blue boy, with very dark copper/mahogany hackles/saddle coloring. I happen to like this color, but don't think it would do well in a show. JMO

I agree with Debbi, but I believe as Don does and think that eventually only one shade of blue will be sought after. That is going to be a tuffy..because it varies so greatly. I myself LOVE the darker medium blue of Lil Bill and the other Blue Copper boy I posted. I do like the lighter blue like the boy I posted with the half white/silverish hackles but I have found it very hard to keep the crisp deep dark lacing on the lighter blue this color.

Would love to see photos of that boy of yours.

Most of the pics I see of blues have lighter hackles like the wheatens is that ok? He is the only mature blue copper I have so he will give me some blue pullets to work with. I have a BCM roo that has very nice dark color like what you are talking about. Not as nice as Vicki's but dark like hers. Is that coloring even possible with the blues? I would love to breed my dark BCM roo to some nice blue girls to get some better color on the blues.

Do you mean the nice red coloration her boy has in the hackle, wing bow and saddle area?

Yes. It is her BCM Gigantor? I guess what I am asking are there things about blues that limit the coloring of the copper?
