Not Pink, but here is what I like. Nice blue coloring with breast lacing, an even, medium blue color. Copper hackles and saddle, deep red wing bow. Nicely feathered shanks/toes. No white feathers or fluff. Pretty much the same you would look for in a BCM, only in blue. So many shades of blue too! I also have a very dark blue boy, with very dark copper/mahogany hackles/saddle coloring. I happen to like this color, but don't think it would do well in a show. JMO

I agree with Debbi, but I believe as Don does and think that eventually only one shade of blue will be sought after. That is going to be a tuffy..because it varies so greatly. I myself LOVE the darker medium blue of Lil Bill and the other Blue Copper boy I posted. I do like the lighter blue like the boy I posted with the half white/silverish hackles but I have found it very hard to keep the crisp deep dark lacing on the lighter blue this color.

Would love to see photos of that boy of yours.

Will comment on the Correct Blue color as I have showed many Blue fowl. The Judge will be looking for a madium Blue with the lacing. please remember that the splash, light and dark are a gold mine for producing the correct color from.

Kim, this male is still going to be a nice Blue Copper male eventually, Now that you have the room just give him alittle time and you will see. He may be a cock bird before he finishes up with the color. He has really good type for what I like in a Marans Male. You could put him with a dark Blue Copper or even a splash from a Blue Copper breeding. I hope most will remember that most of the real pretty show Blue Copper do not come from pretty Blue Coppers. All of this color we are dealing with averages from the parent flock. Hope some of this makes since.

YES! Made it home safe and sound with all my birdies! Helped tear down the show for a while, had a meeting for the other poultry club I'm a part of and nailed down some details for the spring show here. I'm feeling so good about moving forward in my breeding programs and about the new stock I got. Man...they are nice!!! I'll try to get some pics of them if I can get them to stand still. They are wyandottes, but they are the ones I won on that silent auction! I still can't believe I have them!! I got up at 5 this morning and went out to the garage where they are in quarantine to make sure they are really mine!!

I had a few people really curious about my Marans and had a lady I've known since I was tiny asked me for chicks when I am ready to sell them. There is other good news afoot as well, but I can't let the cat out of the bag yet til a few things happen, but I'm excited!

oh...by the way...totally off subject. Anyone that has gone to other poultry shows....I have a favor/question to ask. If you took photos...do you have any photos that have a clear shot of the coop tags? if so, could you PM me a photo of them? I have a project I'm working on and am trying to get as many different styles of them as i can

Yeah! Glad you and the flock made it home safely! Sheesh, thought you were cutting back for the winter, and there ya go bringing home some more!

Just kidding, I would've done the same thing. I just love those BLRWs! In fact, I had looked at them before the Marans. Maybe I should've gone with my first gut instinct??

Just goes to show anyone can have the "Educator" badge.

Well, that's not so. If that were true, I'd have one. I don't know squat, but evidently, you do!

Stop that Don....you are letting just a little too much humor fly these days, I don't know if I can handle all the laughs.

Oh and if anyone deserves that educator badge, you do!

haha...I say no! Don't give up on the Marans. Even tho I do like the look of the BLRW....I find I have an affinity for the silver pencileds, columbians and blues for wyandottes.....can't help it!!

Oh...trust me by the way....I am going to be cutting back pretty severely now that show prep is over....
