The British standard does call for clean legs. I believe the Australian may as well but I'm not sure on that one.

Now, I've got some Birchen egg pictures to post for Gilavina ...

I will Re-post pics of my 3 birchens from summer. I need to get updated pix. I really like taking pics I just hate uploading them LOL! We have cable internet which you would think would be a good thing -but nooo ours goes out all the time off-on, off-on. We've had the line replaced 300 ft out to the street and all the wiring in the house replaced and the same garbage. I can't believe we pay for this crap lol.
I am glad to report they are all over fowl pox now and thier combs all went back to normal. For awhile there I was wondering if the birchen boy's comb would be ruined he had pox on the tips and they were all bent and funky looking but its wierd how they all pretty much went back to normal!

I'm thinkin you must be busy down your way...haven't seen you as much lately

How's things for ya? Love seen the pics of the birchens when they were young. Your Sassy doesn't lay a half bad color, that guy you got them from must have been working for a while on them.

I'm in the process of culling down my birchens now...I left them til the last because I wanted to give the ones I held onto showing promise the time to grow out. I have about 50 birchens all together.

I'm hopin to cull down to half of that, I have three sets of birchens going...so have three mini flocks to set up. I think I'll be able to get there and will have a great hatching year this next season. I got set back on the egg color part when I lost my birchen boy this spring, but I'm determined to head back in the good direction.

Those are darker then I've seen for Birchens...........there is hope..

Those are pretty birchen eggs. I would love to cross my silvers with my dark laying black coppers but then I would still have the issues with the gold leakage grrrr. My blue birchen boy has some gold leakage in the top of his wing where the bcms would normally have coppering. I am gonna just have to work on the solid black and blues egg color and cross that into the birchens I think...My silver blk birchen girl has mossiness issues as well. I don't know what color of egg she is gonna lay but I'd bet its darker than sassy's. She should start laying any time now. I have a white orp pullet, her same age that just started laying so its her turn now lol.
