Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Welcome to the thread, SaraT. You know that you must post pics of every fuzzy butt you own before we let you into the conversation.
Only kidding! But pics, please. I have a boy looks just like yours, the white should just be baby fuzz, and moult out.

Ok....so ever have one of those days where everyone seems to be acting like a dink? I have had way too many of those lately... I found the best sign tho and am seriously thinking of making on and hanging it where people can see it easily. "If you are going to be a turd, go lay in the yard." I just about died when I read it!

Yep, that sign is a keeper!
Hope your day gets better, although I think everyone is nuts this time of year, and getting worse by the day.
May be back to normal sometime after New years?

I hope so...I just don't understand why everyone thinks they need to whine at me about things I cannot change...like the weather. Or how things like the weather magically removes any ability to have tact and decency?

This is why I love going home and being with my animals...they don't complain (much) and are always happy to see me!

The Birchens are on the way. 8 and 12 SFH's. I can't wait and hope they make it ok. It's been colder here lately but they should be ok.. My first shipment came in February and all were alive and well. The brooder is set up and ready. Gotta get the food and water though.

Now to the tape worm thing. I wonder if the ACV would make things inhospitable for the larvae? I do Eprinex but am adamant not to use anything that requires tossing eggs. It just doesn't seem right or healthy. I'll have to do some research into it.

This description say nothing about egg withdrawl. Why is that? It also says nothing about "tape worm" or "Gape worm" . Further research says NOT approved for eggs that will be used for human consumption.

Because it it for "off brand" useage. Even if I use the Eprinex, i will use some kind of withdrawl period, like a week at least. I don't belive half of what I read, regardless. I've used Ivomec products before on cattle, sheep, and goats and been very satisfied. I used Valbizien on goats once, and had disatrous results! We are talking about gross deformities, and all the kids died. I will never use it again!
