haha...nice! What did you load yours with?

I think I might have gotten a dose of reality this morning when I did chores and then again after I started moving some more birds out of my grow out pens. The snow here kind of snuck up on me...and so I'm feeling like until I grow out these youngsters from mid summer and fall hatches that were unexpected...I need to behave. I guess I'll just have to try for next year. Maybe by then I'll have all my new pens built and etc...sigh.

I loaded 13 eggs. From my Ameraucanas, EEs, and 3 large pullet eggs from one of my BCMs. These will be mutts - EEs and OEs because the ladies have been running with my Black Copper cockerel, my Blue Copper and a couple of Blue Ameraucanas. A total crap shoot. Just for fun.

Just finished building a GInormous brooder - grow out box in the basement to house all these little guys for the winter - and the 11 2 week olds that I already have. Just about to move them ....

nice. Sounds like you are being productive over there. I'm determined to get the brooders out of the basement and down to the barn. I have a Kidding room that was built for goats, but it never really gets used except for storage...so I recently cleaned it all out, put on a fresh coat of paint and am gonna put the brooders in there. Figure for me and my confined space it will work out much easier. The nice part is that room is insulated so it always stays nice and temperate...just have to go to Iowa to pick up the stack brooder a friend has been rewiring for me. Picked it up for $40 bucks...

Got a couple photos today of my carnations that are blooming in December.

That is a great set of pictures showing it on a chick. Good reference to compair to.

Do I understand split wing correctly, that is just as it sounds. A noticeable split in the feathers when the wing is extended?

Split Wing, one in which there is a distinct gap between the primary and secondary wing feather, resulting in the permanent absence of a feather. It is a DQ. There are a few wing DQs.
