I would say they are ok then, Sounds like if I'm understanding right you would be working with aunts, and cousins possibly? Again...my brain is on slow...coffee is my fuel.

Bill's favorite song is Tom Arnold's "I'm my own Graaaannndddpaaa!"

I would keep her in the house until it closes with a nice scab on it's own as long as there is no infection and bleeding. Treat it as a puncture wound and you should be fine. She is better off with you inside the house until it closes.

oh yeah...she is definitely staying here until she gets better. Its a pretty nasty hole...but there was no bleeding, its just torn skin, but its exposed an area that's probably about and inch square gaping hole and where its at the base of the neck whenever she moves it keeps it from closing up. Its not red or inflamed at all...It makes me a bit uncomfortable to look at it, but its just cause I'm concerned. I want her to be ok. I put her food and water up on a platform at head height so she doesn't have to lean down and cause it any more problems, but other than that...I'm a bit unsure. Today when I go to work I'm going to get some of that neosporin spray to put on it. I've been using regular neosporin with a q-tip...but thought the spray would do a more thorough job.

haha you're so funny. Do you have a write up of line breeding when you go past crossing daughter back to father and etc? I think that might help clear up some of the questions. I know I have a write up of it in one of my dad's books, but would have to go hunting for it.

You talking about the F1 F2 thing??? Yeah but I don't like using the terms and I do have it all written down somewhere, just too lazy to get it out this morning.

Just wondering what you all thought.

I can say with all of this comb sh-tuff happening....I am very glad that I kept my Bill boy running around here to mix in new blood with.

Just thinking here.... don't they have liquid stitches you could use to close it up? I don't know if you can get it over the counter it may just be for Dr.s. It is really just surgical super glue. They did that to my mother when she had open heart surgery... they just glued her up

Might could get it from a vet or online

yeah...the F1 and F2 thing can get confusing for me when it starts getting tossed around, I do better with daughter, aunt, etc etc. What I was thinking of was the chart written up for how to sustain a line and who goes with who on the chart. It certainly keeps me in line when i'm thinking of who goes with who.

I am glad that you kept Bill too! He's one of the first birds of yours that I saw and really liked. I hope that you can get some good results from the girls you have! Regardless, I think it's going to be an interesting next year or so for quite a few of us.

I was looking up the liquid stitches it is high, the liquid bandaid might be better. Anything to cover it and keep it from infecting.

thanks for the idea. I will be working on doing that tonight when I get home! The good news is that she laid me an egg the other night...granted, it was shell-less, just had the membrane part. It was a relief tho since I was also worried about the risk of a broken egg in her. I thought I saw her trying to squat earlier today, so I might have an egg again today...just perhaps.
