you have us beat- we are at 30* now and should hopefully get to 38* today!

are you guys getting the feel that we are in for a cold cold winter up your way too? The bitterly cold temps have struck pretty hard here so far, already having been in single digits and 0s for several days in a row. That's why I'm so excited about the 30s today! It will make doing chores less painful haha

In answer to your question...nope sure don't. Did she hatch that way Debbi or are they curling slowly over time?

edited to add: I personally have not had curled toe or crooked toe problems here at my house with my birds, but Enggass hatched out Toeby (sp?) remember? She had a curled toe. I wonder how she is doing? Anyway, I can't really comment on the curled or crooked toe thing Debbi I just know that it happens sometimes and that it doesn't care which color variety and in most cases is due to incubation temps, but can be inherited. Have not had anyone else tell me that they have toe problems....if anyone has, PLEASE tell me so that I can add that to my list of faults too.

Is this a bird from me Debbi?

Hey Kim! Have you started your work on developing a line of blue laced barnies yet? I know you have barnies and BLRW, but didn't know if you were as far as crossing them yet?

as of yet we have no snow cover and the frost is being driven into the ground pretty hard with the cold temps and mositure. We have been in the teens at night- hoping to get the rest of the plastic on the aviary for the peafowl and pheasants today- they have been doing good so far and seem to like it.

She hatched this way. Thought maybe an incubator thing, but no one else in the clutch had it, and the temps stayed at 99.5 the whole time. They get vitamins in their water from day one too. The other clutch this happened with was Blue Butt and Bump. Blue Butt had the same problem, but seems they have straightened out on their own. None of yours ever showed the problem. Genetics or hatching error? And why only in the blues?

Yeah!!!

The hydrant gave me water!! May have just been stuck yesterday, but I think I'll still try to check the gasket. Sure don't see any leaks on it anywhere though?

yeah...I'm in the same boat, having to get plastic up and need to move the rest of my birds. I'm getting a slow start this morning...taking it easy since its gonna a be an insane week at work and then the next week family is coming and I'll end up getting mauled by small wild children for a week. Somewhere in there too I gotta finish christmas shopping and get the house ready for guests, oh....and finish laying my flooring. CRAP

I edited my post and then read yours, so disregard my question to you Debbi. You answered it in your post. But I don't know why it would only pop up in your blues.

Vicki~ I have my first little cockerel "Stoopid"...(I call him Blue"Stew" for short,

) ..and he is doing just fine. He defines his name...if you look it up in the dictionary you will see his photo posted there.

Both chicks that hatched were cockerels, the other one died at about a week of age if I remember correctly. So the long haul of waiting for this cockerel to grow out is on. The even longer wait for the girls to start laying again has been on for over 2 months now.
