No kidding! Dog food too. When I started using the brand I use now, like last year, it was $12.95/50#, and is a very decent food. Now, it is $24.95/50#!!!

same here with the dog food....everythings expensive. What kills me is that I drive by the coop here every day for work and during harvest I have to drive by these GIANT mounds of corn that won't fit in the bins because they have too much corn. These hills are at least 25 to 40' high and go on for at least a football field length..probably more. THey have them covered now, but between that and the massive amount of bins they have full...it hurts to have to pay the price they want for corn and other grains.

That's what my feed store guy was telling me the other day; there is a glut of corn this year. Prices on a few corn items here have dropped, a few cents. They'll hang on to it till the middle of winter, then you watch the prices shoot up! If they'd quit making ethanol out of corn, we would not have this problem. Too many farmers are being subsidised to produce more corn, and now there is too much. So rather than lose money, they stockpile it to when we need it so badly, we'll pay what they ask for it. Kind of like the gasoline market, folks are getting rich on these schemes... Then there's Wall St., don't even get me going there!

I am not going to go into this a whole lot but whats going on in this country with the cost munipulation of goods/commodities by Corporations is bunch of BS!!!!! We are all being had!!! We have become so dependant on their products (Banks, Gas, Pharma, Grains, etc) that they know they can charge us almost whatever.....and we'll pay it! Its just crazy.

I just read yours and was going to whole heartedly agree! I think they need to take food products and gas off the market! Dark eggs, no eggs again today! Marans, marans, marans!!!

I agree with both of you whole heartedly!! I dozed off there for a bit, just had just gotten home from work and had lunch...and have to go back to work again (long story, but im helpin out another employee be able to go say goodbye to her dying grandma). Everything you guys were talking about just makes me sick and why I try to grow as much of my own food as possible and why I'm on the hunt for land and have a few people I work with cooperatively to grow or produce things that are in each of our skill sets and share. for me it includes several things, but Marans eggs top that list
