I don't have a copy of the SOP anymore so I am flying blind. The copy I did have was very old and I gave it to a 4-H'er that needed a copy and just haven't replaced it yet.

I saw your chick's lost their shank feathering, what's up with that? I've had the same problem. Does it come back any as they get older? Pip was born with nice feathers, but his faded to almost gone, looked more like a bad shaving job. Now, they seem to be getting thicker, but don't think they'll ever be like when he started. So, they carry the genes for the shank feathering, but does the tendency to lose them pass on too??

The only two that still have what they started with is Clyde and Roy.

Still thriving in the with the group of 11. I was just thinking yesterday that I have to get some new pictures posted. My BCMs do appear to be a perfect trio; 2 girls and a boy. Cuckoos are 4 times the size of the others! BIG boys.

I don't know why it goes away.....but I can say that with the older chicks that hatched from Lil' Bill and Gnarles all lost theirs and now (can't remember their age..I'm bad...but like 6 or 7 weeks) they have nice feathering. Not the best photos of them, sorry.

Here's the Blue Copper boy I called copper spot when he hatched. He is from Lil' Bill. He has a little less feathering.

This is a BC male also from LB. Don't mind his gorged crop...the little piglet.

I like his shank feathering.

In the clutch I got from you, two were heavily feathered at hatch, (JR and Charlotte), one nicely feathered (Olivia), and two were naked from the get go (Myron and Billy). JR still has passable feathering, so does Olivia. Charlotte lost every stinkin' feather! Both Myron and Billy have a patch of stubs right in the middle of their shanks.

Here's an updated photo of #92 (Bill's blue dtr. feathered shanks) that could be the mom of... was it Myron?

She is very lightly feather shanked and the only one of Bill's daughters to get feathering, but I have a 3rd gen girl that has nice feathering. Waiting for her to begin laying again.
