Oh no my dear friend, you misunderstood. I am not talking about judges who enter their birds in the shows. I am talking about Judges that don't like to have the decisions questioned. Judges get very defensive and ahhh can we say RUDE if an award winning bird has faults that are pointed out.

After all, Don't you KNOW that a pic does not tell the whole story ? ??

That off colored wing feather.... well.... it really isn't white if you know what I mean.

Also, there appears some unwritten rule about the number of smilies that you are allowed to use when communicating with a judge

So, I will just say again...

I have another example of it. I wanted yours because it was an "in"ie and the other photo was an "out"ie

Maybe tomorrow, I will see if I can find it and draw cute little arrows on it again!

I did talk to Don and he said if the Thumbprint is low like on this guy it does not normally make an "out"ie on the other side.

I knew exactly what you were talking about, they should be better prepared. While I do realize that it is hard to keep up with every new standard, copies of the standard should be made available at the show so they can buff up on it prior to judging. It is a problem in the horse and dog show world too, so yes, I am very familiar with that problem. Maybe if the indescretions were pointed out to them more often, they would learn what to look for?? As for the exhibitor, like I said, they made it a public matter of opinion when they went to the show. "Kennel Blindness" abounds in all show animals, but sometimes people need to hear it or they may continue going down the wrong path. Then there is the competition that will tell them their birds are gorgeous, full well knowing the birds stink! Hence, keeping the competition at bay. Afterall, these are CHICKENS we are talking about, not their child!

Okay so I was reading this thread when my son comes up behind and starts reading over my shoulder (he loves to read everything) So he came to word "tallywhackers" and asked what that meant, I told him it was a made up word to be silly and he ran off to play with his toys. But I got to thinking and googled it. And ummm.... You might want to edit that word, just saying.

I'm not so worried about the judges. It's EASY for them to fall back on "that's the best I had on the day". Just because they "pin" the bird doesn't necessarily mean it's any where NEAR perfect - but - a lot of folks with winning birds become pretty convinced their birds are without fault - because they won. (Although, I've also seen owners that are very realistic about their birds and happy to have feedback about what still needs improving .... )

Debbi, I know my mom use to use this word when I was little and it didn't have the same connotation that it has now

Many other words have changed over time... Gay being one of them.

We went to church one day and the hymms were using the word prostate..... ummm not like we think about it today either.

Needless to say, that is why everything has to be evaluated in context and a smilie helps with that
