Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

see in that first pic you posted...how the back of the comb seems to come out of a hole, and where the comb is folded down and then the explosion from the center of that fold. That's pretty typical of invert/telescope combs...not that crazy explosion, but the fold part. I'll keep hunting around to see if I can find some pics for you

Yes, the feather shafting tends to go hand in hand with the combs. The boy next to him is Blue Butt. He has a really nice, pyramidal sprig on the other side of that comb, and he is one NASTY MEAN sonofagun!!!

But he has the best dark mahogany colors!!!

Aww that figures. He looked pretty from the non-sprig side LOL! He doesn't even look like he'd be mean. My mean roos look mean too! Least ya know its coming that way. I don't know why I even keep the mean ones.

I don't care if HE laid golden eggs! That nasty boy is SOUP!!! There is no mahogany on either of those boys. Muttley, with the tree comb, has the best coloring of any roo here...figures, right?

Sorry that was the colors I saw on the Blue boy my screen.

We do not keep mean roos either!

Here are a few of my mean ones. They are real stinkers.
This little blue boy was mean from the get go. He grew up to be even eviler.

Ha! If I recall, right after I took those pics, he lunged at me. He is the one that flew off the roost and tore a ligament or muscle, so he still limps. Lucky for me, that slows him down a wee bit. He will wait till I come home and shut off the truck, then come racing over to try to flog me. He got the shock of his life the other day when he did that. I left the net leaning up against the house where I park. He heard me get out of the truck and came racing over with hackles flared. I netted him, moved him out of my way, and set a cement block on the pole of the net! I let him sit there, netted, until I got all the groceries in the house. Took me about 10 minutes, then came out and set him free. He's been a tad better since that incident, but I don't ever turn my back to him! He's way worse than Pip ever was!

haha that last pic threw me for a loop. I was so focused on looking closely at the boy and trying to figure out what the heck was going on with his tail that as I followed it up off his back my eyes did this

as they landed on an eyeball! It was then I realized I might be kinda out of it tonight...I was seeing the bird behind him...I'm a dink.
