Are you able to reach the fan enough to use that compressed air in the can (office supply at walmart) or better yet just use a shop vac on reverse to blow it out?

How much was that? My thermostat blew on the hatcher last night... I lost ALL my babies..... 18 chicks GONE. I need a good thermostat. So any and all suggestions are welcome, just not a WHT

most docs do now test t3 and t4 when they test thyroid. i was sure my issues were thyroid and saw several docs before one took me seriously. it turned out i was b12 deficient, and severely deficient in vit D. Those together caused symptoms similar to low thyroid.

Saw Dr. Oz the other day and we got some b12... so we will see what happens with that.

well....I got the top off...and I think once I clean what I can reach there in way of wiping down the shelf and etc I will make a run to Walmart to grab some compressed air and blow the fan out just to make sure. Then I think I will do another round of wiping down to pick up what blew around and then I'll put the top back on and take the back off, this way I can reach the bottom back of the incubator which is where its the most dusty. I know if I try to use a wet cloth on an extension of some type I'll just end up pushing it around instead of totally making sure its squeaky clean! I know I probably sound paranoid, but the incubator has been in storage since about last june I think and that's a long time and I want the babies to have the best chances. So, happy cleaning and disinfecting for me!

They start out at $85 and go up from there. I got one because I want a set it and forget it type of thermostat with alarms. I have friends that raise lizards and snakes and swear by these. So sorry to hear about your babies. OMG you must be devastated!!

I think I am in shock..... I am on a mission to fix the little things too. I have lost with this last hatch of 18, 2 more because the brooder light blew too..... SICK of dead babies over STUPID stuff. I am going to build a brooder using the flexwatt, that will not go out for a long time I hope and put it and a light on a thermostat and maybe a back up light too on a different thermostat, a fail safe.

We are going to the reptile store in the morning and see what they have. I have too many babies hatching that are VERY important, I can't lose anymore. I need these babies and they are depending on me. Maybe I will sleep at the farm so I can check every hour.....

I havent had any of my hens go broody in about 4mos.... Im super jelous

WOW! He is BEAUTIFUL! Don't know what he is, he could be part Marans but the leg color is completely wrong for any type of Marans so I am very skeptical.....but boy howdy he is pretty!
Did you hatch him out from an egg? If so...the color of the egg he hatched from would tell the tale, but if you got him as a chick there is no way of ever truly knowing.

Thanks so much!!! What color legs do Marans have? Do you have any guesses on his breed and/or the color? I did hatch him from an egg and it was very dark brown, so that is why I guessed he was a Maran?
