well....I think that I am done with my jury duty service. They had so many people that I had pretty good odds of never being called for jury selection. So, I'm relieved. I also proved yet again that I'm accident prone. I lodged a 2" splinter in my foot that was about an 1/8" at the end....took me about a half an hour to get it all out, but finally got it done. It was right on the ball of my foot tho, so of course I feel it when I walk. What a klutz.
just purchased 12+ BC Maran eggs from a BYC member to be shipped at the end of Feb. Waiting on another BYC person to see if their flocks will lay enough for me to buy a bunch of BC and BBS Maran eggs from them! I haven't hatched any chicks in 2 years so I'm long overdue!
Keep your fingers and toes crossed
that they all arrive safely and I can get a great hatch from them...I use 2 Genesis 1588s and I've got about 2-3 hens out in my pen who are trying to be broody everyday....even on golf balls!
I've been reading this thread from the beginning for over 2 weeks and it keeps growing! I'll never catch up to the end! I'm on pg 924 now, but when i started reading it was only on 2900+ (and now 3054?!?) This has got to be the longest thread! I'm learning tons and I love the pics- just wish they'd all show up. A bunch must've disappeared when the old BYC changed over to the new one....

haha I know you meant foot, but the first thing I thought was, 'wow! It went all the way to the top of her stomach!" Haha....I don't even want to count how many nails and screws I stepped on when I was little....I hated shoes...well...truthfully, I still do.
What's the update on the hatching progress so far? Anything more than last update? I'm trying to preoccupy myself with other people's babies! Good thing my friend just had two lamancha does kid and ended up with 5 babes...four doelings and one buck

I have 3 babies from PINK'S! One of each color too. One Splash from 96's and One Blue and One Black from 92's! One of the eggs marked Blue pipped, but has done nothing else all day. Maybe tomorrow.
I have a question, the little black one seems to have some odd down/feathers. I don't really know how to tell you what it looks like. Looking at his back he looks spotted. When you touch them they just fell stubby. At first I thought it was just dry goo, but after cleaning him it didn't really help. He didn't look like he was fluffing much. Anybody know what that is? Should I do something or not worry. I am afraid if he has no down how is he going to stay warm?
Pics anyone?????
Splash, I don't know if it has feathered legs. I forgot to look
The one on top is the one I am talking about. Can you see what I am talking about? The one on the bottom is blue and has feathered legs.
I don't think the black one does.
well holy crap! I don't know how I missed those unless my internet connection was moving too slow to load them when i was looking back on the day! I can't wait to see what they look like when they come out of the incubator all fluffed up and ready to take on the world! I am not sure exactly what's up with the one baby....but I have had one or two chicks hatch later in a batch and come out with feathers starting already to emerge....
