Hi Denny!!!!!!!!! Good to see you! How are your Cuckoo's going? Got any Splash roosters running around there that you haven't shared photos of?

Thanks Vicki. Hope you are having a better day and that your Dad is feeling better.

Oh been meaning to tell you about my Silver Birchen cockerel......he is getting silver in and it is coming in very nicely. I'm not too excited about his short back and I'm thinking that he might have a pinched tail but I'm not 100% sure about the tail yet. The short back I can deal with. He has a nice comb and great feathered legs. The 2 girls are doing great as well and the all black one is starting to get some silver but I suspect that she won't have tons of it. The gold one "Goldie Locks" is destined to go play with Bill in the laying flock.

I have a Blue Copper pullet that is almost 5 months old.....again as always seems to be a theme around here, she is not showing any copper, but the rest of her is very nice. Can't wait to see what she will lay. If she has good egg color I am going to pair her with the Splash Copper cockerel....her brother and do a sibling to sibling mating like Don was talking about and see what happens.
My Splash Copper cockerel is coloring out beautifully and turning into a nice boy.

Donna~ Was going to say that both Black Coppers that have hatched so far do not have the short down.

Today is my first day off in a while...and the bonus is that I only have 5 more days of work to go before I head down to the spring sale in KS. I'm excited....I just love sales, so I don't mind if I get anything or not...

My dad does seem to be doing better this morning indeed...his breathin is much clearer and much less coughing, so I'm hoping he's on the mend for sure

Sounds like you might have something to work with after all with the birchens and bcms then eh? Got any update pics of them layin around? I've got to get update shots soon...just not today, its a cloudy gloomy day so far. It feels like it could pour any minute

Hope you have a blast in KS!

No photos laying around of them......everytime I get 5 minutes to go shot a photo I get distracted or it starts to rain.

Do find that they are roos?

The last one that I kept that is just a few days younger than yours, I think is a female with the slow feathering gene. The other little Black Coppers that hatched last week are both looking like pullets to me. They were both short downed as well. They are going to live with my brother and SIL today so keeping track of what they actually end up being will be easy. :)

Ok got them loaded on the computer....

The little black copper.... Roo? I only think that because of the slow feathering thing.... I see no signs that it is a roo really.

This one has clean legs.

I am not sure I would want to breed that gene into the marans without really know what it is. Keeping track of that would be a great thing.
