One here! Two more pips. I threatened them by frying up some eggs for breakfast!

BIG CHICK!!

COME ON!!! They pop out like popcorn here - tell them to quit being so slow!

And to beat the leg feather subject some more.....

Sorry, me too..can't keep up with this thread and been very busy getting ready to set up new poultry pens. Anyway, I can't seem to find this--the middle toe feathering is a fault, not a disqualification, for the Marans, is that correct?

Debbi~ Tell those chickies to get out!! We want to see them!!!

I've got 11 babies in the brooder with a 3.5 week old and 1.5 week old. They are doing great. Polly-Esther the slow feathering BCM pullet that I have in there is spoiled rotten and just gives me the look like..."just what do you think you are doing putting those in here?"

She got over it pretty quick and plopped right down in the middle of them and took a nap.

4 Splash, 5 Blues and 4 Blacks and hopefully pretty soon I will see what the last one is. The one that pipped the near the wrong end and was dry did not make it.
That's fantastic!! You got a nice variety pack to hatch! I can't wait to see pics!

Hi Slick! The egg trays themselves for the Sportsman are not tilted, well the egg trays that I have for mine aren't. The eggs are straight up and down. I suspect they are the same for all Sportsmans.

This is what the tray looks like in a Sportsman with out one of the removable egg holding trays and the last little chickie I am waiting on to hatch in the very bottom in the white egg carton. I wish it would hurry up.

Hey Kim...you have a turner in your sportsman yeah?

Can we talk twisted combs a minute? Some pictures:

These are two of the five with bad combs.

I forgot to tell them we were doing pictures today, so they weren't prepared and tried to ignore me. I took a few extra PICS anyway.

All the boys have straight combs, so are there any expectation these can be bred out?

My babies are taking their time too.... I had 3 out when I got to the shop... 2 more had pipped and zipped some and were stuck so I helped those guys out. One is fine the other... we will see. 2 more popped out of my REALLY Dark eggs

So far.3 lav splits and 4 Marans. I think 3 blue coppers and 1 black. The black copper did not have feathered legs. I know 2 of the others did. I have never had a hatch this late.... IDK way. I think I set them way late in the night like 8-9pm. Several more had pipped. None of the Blue Cuckoos yet

I finally got my 400 lumens flashlight.... maybe now I can see in some of those eggs. It is really strong, I will not be using that on reg eggs. I looked at a cuckoo Marans egg (all I had at home) and could see right through it, pretty well. I will really test it tomorrow. I have more eggs to move to lockdown...

GO BABIES GO! Debbi we need an update!?!?!?!

Congrats on the babies!!!!

This is what 2 of the young girls left for me today!
