In short pea comb is not always green eggers and single isn't always brown-white. EE genentics makes for unknown outcomes. One of the reasons I love them.

DonnaOk today was hatch day. I set eggs thinking there would be another trade day, but there is not.... so guess what...... ALL the eggs seem to have hatched.Well except the lavenders that never seem to hatch well. Anyway... ALL the Blue and Black Coppers hatched. A few Cuckoos, those are not hatching great, but they are VERY big eggs so they may need another day
several had pipped so maybe more tomorrow. But out of like 110-120 eggs I set in the hatcher. I bet less than 20 didn't hatch including the lavs and cuckoos. Several baskets had 100% hatches and no one seems to be having any major issues......![]()
DebbieI will try to remind you in the morning, if I remember! Didn't make it out to the garden again today, so tomorrow I will be hoe, hoe, HOEING!! All the plants are looking good; maters and peppers have blooms now!! Squash and cukes are starting to really spread too. I can hear the Florida and Calif. people laughing in the background...yeh, I know, you guys are probably eating tomatoes by now!I am sooooo ready for that first, big juicy tomato!!!![]()
Yes, I believe it sure does! This one went from a cracked pip look at around 9am, and was out by 11;20 or so! I got one pic of the first one to hatch under the broodies, I will try to upload now. It has to be a roo, it is all over the place, and out in the run with his daddy! At first it kind of freaked me out, as "Bossy" wasn't sure what it was. So, I just sat and watched, and here come two of the girls out of the coop to see where the prize chicke went. All is peaceful, and the last time I looked out, the chick was hanging with dad, and he was calling the baby for treats!Congratulations, Debbi! Very exciting!! (I'm still promoting pictures ....

(Can't help but wonder if stickiness has something to do with how long they take to get out of the egg .... if they pip and get to zipping in a timely fashion - all goes well. If they pip and sleep for 2 days, they stick???)
Quote: If I can think of it tomorrow, I will get a shot in the brooder. I have a keeper brooder and a for sale brooder. All my Blue and Black Copper hatched.... that is normal at my house... the odd thing they ALL had feathered legs. PERFECT toonow the really odd thing.... most of the Marans are lethargic.... not sure way. All the others are very active and acting like normal chicks. They just seem really sleepy. They will get up and stand but prefer to lay down. I will have to keep an eye on them for a day or two. They were active yesterday, just not today. Vitamins in the morning.![]()
If I needed the pen he would be gone. He is just not right.I finally got around to taking more pics of this "Blue Copper" Marans cockerel, he is 6 months old. If he is pure blue, then his wing triangle should be blue, is that right? So what do you all think? I am trying to breed pure blue coppers, so if he doesn't fit the bill---he is up for grabs if anybody wants him or freezer camp. I don't have the pen space for any test matings with him, although I do think he is pretty and so far he has not been too much of a PINA, although he did beat up his Delaware pen mate, even though they were raised together, and bloodied the Delaware's comb and head--so I had to separate them.

I think I can picture what you are saying, but pm me a photo and I'll see if I can help yaHey Vicki
been meaning to ask you about a Wyandotte I got from another breeder...
She appears to have some sort of congenital defect in her skull.
It looks like one side of her face is not growing, causing her top beak to be off set...
I have a very blurry pic, if that helps...
Has anyone seen this?? Wyandotte or otherwise??
