Let me try again . . .

I get a few chicks this color from Granite (EE) on my mostly white EE hen. So I am trying to figure out if one of these chicks hopped into the hatching basket of OE or CM that I got from you.

I guess I should ask--can I get a white down with a few blk spots from your OE or CM??
From my Olive Eggers yes.... I have a White Olive Egger. Not from the cukoos. This chick is not from my eggs. I have only ever gotten 1 white from my Olive Eggers and I thought she was Dominate white too. What color are the legs.... that should tell you something.... if not you will find out something when she lays.... if a pullet.
I thought she was a jumper so I tossed her in with the EE and FBCM to keep my head straight Will see if I can identify her. I may never know.

Hope you get your chick ID'd.

I found my first marans egg today! From my BCM pullet...lightened a little by the flash...I think it's between a 4 and 5 on the egg chart in person...

Congrats kahlua!

I asked this question on the Black Copper thread but trying to get a consensus. Should I cull my BCM chicks for that middle toe feather now? Theyare just under a week old - born about Mon-Tues this past week (some were shipped as day olds and some I hatched myself). There's only a few of them in there with that issue so should I just cull them now? I kept one Blue Copper hen last year that i hoped would shed the feathers but it never happened (wishful thinking on my part) but she was just so large - the biggest of all my pulllets and with the most copper on her collar. OR Should I hold on to them and see how they grow out for other isses like size, type and color?

Middle toe feather is only a fault, NOT a DQ. You may have other things that are a higher priority than the middle toe feathering.very light feathering is also a fault, medium feathering is the goal.

So....its finally happened! One of my black birchen girls laid an egg! Granted, for a Marans egg its not a wower, but for a first egg its not bad and has lots of dark spots. I'm sure not gonna complain about it esp from a birchen!

A bit lighter in direct light, but still not gonna complain! haha

I tried getting more shots of the younger cockerels, but with as warm as it is and chasing them around I was afraid they were going to overheat, so instead I took some update shots for those of you that saw pics of my black copper and blue copper boys a couple weeks back over email, well...this is two weeks later. I can't believe how much they've grown! Mr Tailless Wonder (the blue) is even growing a little tail back! Yay!
I'm loving their color!

him and his only white feather on his foot.

Oh...and I'm gonna keep trying for more pics of the youngsters Debbi...just gotta go to work in a while and have truck day Monday, so I'm hoping for Tuesday inbetween chores and gathering up all the birds I'm taking to the sale that night
