Ok Marans Marans Marans


I have a broody cuckoo and I brought her into the shop so she could sit. She was having none of it last night. I tried to give her chicks..... she didn't want them. I gave her some blue eggs just to see if she would sit..... NADA. So today I thought, hum.... does she want brown eggs? So I gave her some NH and Cuckoo eggs she started to sit....... so I thought well I will give her some eggs from the incubator 3 blue and 3 brown. She SQUAWKED and SQUAWKED you would have thought a snake was in there.... finally I took the blue eggs out..... still NOTHING..... DANG her.... I wanted to see if she could hatch my Amerauacans better than I can.

She thinks blue eggs are the PLAGUE or something.

I took a picture of Brigitte today, our 5 week old Blue Wheaten. She's out of the Bev Davis line. I let her out on the lawn today with strict supervision.

What is up with the new format i"m seeing? Or is it something crazy in my PC that is distorting the pages? I'll see if it continues to morrow; turned on Pc this morning and it has been difficult to keep the schreen lined up on the monitor and the size id off too.

Your description of the hen is really funny!!! Sorry it's your last hatch and it's not working out. I'm slowing down on hatching to. Need to sell a few chicks myself. Lost my last BO hen today. My last two dies this week. Weird. SO I turned the rooster loose to free range again, feel bad that he has no girls but maybe he will convince some girls to hang with him. Have a bunch of chicks, don't think I will be selling many of those now.

I saw something somewhere I really cant remmber but it wasnt back yard chickens that mentioned something a bout cuckoos being easy to sex as chicks . Is this true

Sorry about your girls

My hatch is going fine.... that is just par for the course on these Ameraucanas. I made some pen changes and I am going to add some vitamins to those pens, to see if that helps and maybe some age on the pullets will help too.

I am not great at it, but yes. The ones with bigger head spots are usually roos and they are lighter in color too. Kinda likes sexing BR.... I am not good at that either
