The better the birds, the more they are a sitting target. People around here tease me because I'm protective of my stock and don't tolerate people snooping over the fences or etc. There are a couple notorious thieves that make the circuit around here, so its something I've grown up with and will never take my best stock to any show that I can't be at through the entirety of. In fact rarely take my best stock, and usually will talk to a couple of neighbors to keep an eye on the place while I'm gone. I know people that have had entire flocks of their stock stolen, so am pretty careful.

Quote: They are not bad.... I could do that down the road. I have heard that toe punches can tear so I don't really like the idea of toe punching. But I think for the FEW that I need to tag it will be ok.

I know of several people that have lost birds to theft. I told hubby we are going to have to put up cameras eventually.

with toe punching methods, I also know there are a few people that run smaller breeding programs that will just clip out the webbing. Most of those were some of the older bantam breeders tho

Hi All ... Been Reading and learning Thank you Vicki and Don for all the photos and comments to refer back to:
I have some updated photos of my "Groceries" from Donna... They hatched June 7th...
Here are my Black Copper...All of the Black copper have great leg feathering...
The first two were shown at fair this past weekend... They didn't have a Marans category... but they won 2nd in the open.
Not allot of copper on these two.. but I have someone with a black copper roo with more copper that wants to trade me.. yeh for me!

The one posted above here may not stay in the breeder pen.... she has a mossy chest and is a bit small...but if she is put with the very black roo....???

The little blue copper girl above... is gorgeous!!! she is beefy and has a nice bit of copper...

Here is the Cuckoo Marans:
The boys did not have leg feathering... So I am hoping the girls will help the offspring.....

Donna you will be happy to know only one other showed the copper in the cuckoos...(none of the boys... it was just the girls...)

Here is an odditity:looks like a silkie slipped into your Ameraucanas pens!

Any comments are always appreaciated...
Thanks
Patricia
