Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

DH has pretty much made up his mind and ix-nay'd Montana and the final decision is Colorado. We are surfing, but we can't do much else until this place goes. He was ready to leave Washington 10 years ago, but I would not commit to leaving until recently. Colorado is closer to sneaking over and borrowing that Luella anyways, LOL! ;)

haha....too funny! I was kind of hoping you guys would pick colorado because it is closer even tho I do love Montana!
Maybe you guys could come over for one of the poultry shows here in Lincoln sometime and could do some swappy swappin? heehee

I think this is a perfect example of digital photography not being your friend. Everything is too dark and contrast is too high.

Also, I don't believe this is "lacing" from a genetic point of view but rather "edging": I'm also not convinced the comb is "twisted". Screwy point, maybe.

Barb, Most Judge would consider this a SPRIG

Well- I just came in from "inspecting" my hen Gracie..... her comb does NOT have an extra point off to the side. Like pink had mentioned- if you were to pull the comb straight, it would all line up. The one point just juts out to the side and goes back in....

Hey y'all! I am marking my spot! I made it to HERE before calling it quits for the night :)
Tomorrow, I have some photos to upload.... Due to Pink's willingness to share all her comb issues, I was super quick to spot a carnation / double sprig comb fault this evening on one cockerels from a different breed. . . .

Once again, Thanks Kim for you openness and willingness to share your experiences.
