I hear that lady. Are you moving soon? Where to?Getting ready to go and round up 3 of the goaties as they are going to their new home today. We are selling the goats as I can not see moving with them. We will get new ones later. The geese are doing great and hopefully in a few days I will be down to only 2 geese, my oldest female and the oldest male, not going to move all the geese either, besides, maybe I can get Pilgrims which are what I wanted to start with.
Have some cute little Marans chicks in the brooder too.![]()
Posting about the BC female with no copper. I see some lately suggesting to cull the dark females and not breed. I have found in my breeding of BC that the dark females will produce some really well colored Bc if bred to something we know is from of BC that has good coloring. 1 1/2 year ago my last big hatching days for BC I use all dark BC female because they were the only ones with the type I wanted to breed forward. Around 90% of pullets had plenty of Copper..
There is someone on BYC at present in the egg section advertising that they have 8 yards of BC from different people and their flock is supposed to be closed. Just wondering if any one has contact this farm for pictures or info.
Post a picture and lets see what you have.Don- I had a question regarding this. Being brand new to marans and chickens in general lol.... most all my pullets/pol lack copper, completely. The one blue copper roo I have at this time is more brassy gold, orange (so far) then copper/red. Would his coloring over dark hens produce more copper/red in the offspring?
