I have 3 adult maran hens along with a bunch of mutt chickens. Someone is giving me this most beautiful deep rose/mauve egg. I think its coming from my light blue splash. Does anone else get eggs that color?

Sigh, we had rain and warmer temps all day yesterday, so all the snow is melting rapidly, meaning its a mess. The birds love it. I swear they find the biggest puddles and jump up and down in them just to see how messy they can get. The plan was to shift birds around tomorrow, but will have to see if I can pull it off or have to wait a bit longer.
Doesn't the weather and the messy birdies know I'm dying to start hatching? haha

Due to the color pattern of this cockerel, I would guess him to have Black Birchen and Cuckoo in him. He seems to have a Cuckoo pattern and the hackles of a Black Birchen.

Boy you guys have better eyes than me! I hadn't noticed a thing on that pic before but I think you are right. However it looks like there's a bunch of boys growing out here, so I should have some to choose from!

15 Black Copper Marans eggs went into the hatcher this morning. They all looked fertile but maybe one but I don't have a super bright flashlight, so they all get a chance. These are from just two pullets. First time I have hatched eggs from known parentage instead of flock mating. Toe punch is ready! Hope they hatch

Ugh, I caught a cold, I betcha at the poultry show on Saturday---incubation period about right, starting coming down with it yesterday. Haven't had a cold in a long time, hope this one doesn't hang around too long, I've way too much to do. I hope you didn't catch one there, Mary.
