I've been pretty lucky as most of my birds start laying at about 6months. I do keep track of how long it takes for them to lay and factor that in when I'm selecting birds that will make it through to the following year. 

By the way, I think I also have blue birchens in that group of chicks from Kansas, not complaining, just a bit surprised. I know the guy raises them as well, so should be interesting seeing how they grow out. The popping continues, the numbers just keep increasing every time I look

Bought three cuckoo marans at the feed store about a week ago. Can't wait for those chocolate eggs.

haha you could try, but me thinks that you would not win haha. I'm very curious to see what I end up with. I do think I have one Wheaten in there, the guy said there was a chance of one or two because he got one carton mixed up, so we'll see how it goes.

i know she's not blue, but am pleased to be seeing more and more consistency in all the varieties here.

yay! I still have some more work I want to do on that, but am very pleased with how they are coming along indeed.
