Oh and it's official.....Roberta the Splash Copper hen is now over a year old and still has not laid an egg yet. She's making me crazy! Okay, okay....I know I was crazy prior to this hen, but she's not helping matters any! LOL!

I have a heritage-bred Barred Rock that did that to me. I just kept hear around as she was beautiful. I was shocked when she finally did lay an egg! Contacted the breeder, who told me that this line does tend to make you wait. Holy heck!

I have some GNH that are over a year and have been laying a fweeks but still small eggs and from 4 hens i am lucky when i get 2 eggs most days i get none. Hubby wants me to get rid of them.

I've been pretty lucky as most of my birds start laying at about 6months. I do keep track of how long it takes for them to lay and factor that in when I'm selecting birds that will make it through to the following year.

By the way, I think I also have blue birchens in that group of chicks from Kansas, not complaining, just a bit surprised. I know the guy raises them as well, so should be interesting seeing how they grow out. The popping continues, the numbers just keep increasing every time I look

i know she's not blue, but am pleased to be seeing more and more consistency in all the varieties here.
