Good morning all! Did we all turn our clocks back?

Tannis, I like #6 the best, and then #8. Even though I don't prefer the coloring on the breast as in #8, that's exactly the color I need to improve hen hackle color, as Don said. I'd say remove any from the breeding program with the white fluff and feathers.

Beautiful chicks.

This post reminded me of something that has been on my mind for quite some time and that is the likelihood that some US Marans are about to be contaminated by EE/Ameraucana blood when one of these Olive Egger birds slips through the cracks. I have a pullet counterpart to your single-combed Olive Egger cockerel. She looks like a beautiful BC Marans, but is in fact an Olive Egger mutt that did not pick up the pea comb or blue egg gene. She is capable of laying a #4 from time to time, but usually just lays a chalky, rough and paintless egg because she does not have any paint for the finish coat. Just FYI, on the first backcrossing of F1 Olive Eggers back to Marans, only half will be Olive Eggers, the rest should be straight-combed and it's imperative that we make sure they don't get into a Marans breeding program. Stay frosty.

By the way, Hi Everybody! Long time lurker here.

No, didn't turn clocks back yet, thinking I'm going to live by the seat of my pants today and not change them until later.

I'm such a simpleton, it still amazes me how the puter can change the time on it's own!

Really having a problem loading the photo of slipped wing for you. I will keep trying unless someone else has one that they can put up for you.

Don~

I was doing some reading and I have found that slipped wing and angel wing are commonly referred to as the same thing....can you clarify? Thanks!

Okay I took a second look and overall number 3 is better for the color balance however I am not that fond of the outline of the bird but suspect it is the photo... If it is in fact a roach backed then I would rethink my choices... Don is right about number 8 he is one to watch...He is so hunky at this age, He will only improve... Though he has too much color in the chest would be a bird to reserve for correction for sure... Okay I feel better.. I am not coming off number 6 as a choice... What else ya got ThePoint Oh and good morning everyone.
