Hi,
Does anyone have a golden cuckoo cock or cockerel which they definitely know without reservation is based on pure e+ gene? From what I've read this boy should have the darker golden hackle and a barred wing triangle.
Thanks,
Karen in western PA
I've read about single combed blue egg laying leghorns, so there must be different ways the genes can be "parked".
a Leghorn that lays blue eggs......are we talking Legbars or Welbars or something like that? I so thought that it would be cool to try and make Legbars, but what has to go into it was too much for me. A friend of mine was going to try and make Welbars, but I think he too gave up on the idea when he found what goes into that. Geesh...I wish we had access to some here in the states, seems like all the cool colored chickies or just plain cool chickens I really really want are all over seas. I love the Legbars....just something about 'em!
Yah, I know I'm a pup, but it's all good, I play well with others....and if it makes either of you feel any better I do need a hip replacement at my tender age, so the old body doesn't feel so springy like a chicken, if ya know what I mean. I just know that holding that baby is going to help, babies are the best medicine in the world.
Wow, woke up to 60* weather this morning!! Nice, but I know we'll be paying for this with some severe stuff tonight and tomorrow. Windy and gray with rain coming in...wish the sun would come out so I could enjoy the 60s!
Pink ~ Try to hold off on that hip replacement! If it's done too early they will have to do it again later on. On the other hand, you can be pain free now when you're more active, soooo... Wish I'd had mine done back in 1996, but docs scared me then and terrify me now. So, I putt along as best I can. The chooks make sure I'm still walking out there to feed them, so it's all good.
One of the builders stopped by the other day. He was the one that had the heart surgery, and he assured me they would start on the re-modeling of my big shed into the new coop this winter!!!
Can't wait. This one will have electricity and different areas for different purposes, and a much larger run. Hmmm, that sounds like chicken math for MORE CHICKENS!!!!
