Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Do you have the normal range adjustment sheet that came with the incubator? It has a normal range and a wide range adjustment sheet. Of course, I can only find the wide range sheet at the moment! Go to the GQF website and you can view the sheet, should get you where you need to be.
Ok, should have read your other thread first :) Have you tried the last paragraph on the wide range adjustment PDF? http://www.gqfmfg.com/pdf/1588 WIDE RANGE ADJUSTMENT.pdf I have done this before and it returns the incubator to the factory setting which is 100 deg. You can then follow the directions for the normal range 1/2 - 1 deg. settings if you don't want it at 100 deg. and it should work. Worst case scenario...... GQF now sells the new digital top separately that you can put on the old incubator. Not cheap but cheaper than a whole new incubator. For 3 doz. eggs maybe a consideration to have it shipped next day.

Check out my webbed foot baby
hmmm did a duck sneak in there while you weren't looking??

Question on Blue Splash Marans?
Mary got 6 chicks 3 are white with the blue spots but 3 are a dark blue looking, is this normal?
1st time with the splash birds so we were just wondering about the coloration differences and also about sexing at a young age with them.

A quick pic of the splashes in with her WFBS chicks

You can see in order and in line at the back of the bunch a blue a white a blue a white and a blue.

We just got 4 BCM chicks. They're about 1 week old and they're all starting to feather.... they all also have small combs coming through. Please tell me this happens in both pullets and cocks. I have some wyandotte chicks which were sexed as pullets, they're 3 weeks old and don't have their combs yet. Is this just a BCM thing?

Wyandottes have different comb types than BCM,,,, probably the difference you're seeing

Any breeders in New Hampshire or New England? They don't have to be show quality, I just want them as pets/layers and think they are pretty and love the egg colors! They would not be bred just spoiled pets! I don't have the room to buy them a dozen at a time or anyway to hatch eggs, just looking for 2-3 chicks or maybe a couple pullets, Thanks!
