congrats...............nice eggs!!!!!!!!!!!! Hi, Aussie newbie here. spent the last 2 months reading this mammoth thread.... Up to page 4000..e nearly finished e. Lurking and reading and (hopefully) learning. If anyone thinks the marans you have are expensive, have a look at this ad on our version of CL. http://www.gumtree.com.au/s-ad/park-ridge-south/livestock/trio-french-wheatan-maran-s/1022186506. I was gobsmacked... saw one trio for $180 yesterday, now this. Sue

These are my 5 week old Black Copper Maran chicks. Still trying to figure out for sure who's a hen and who's a roo. Also which one's look like they'll be best for breeding?

Aloha,

I got blue copper marans. They are beautiful, but it seems that the black Copper Marans are the purest breed. Everything else seems to be a mixture of something else with the black copper marans. But it also depends on what you like. I don't like silkies, but that's just me.
