Splash copper don't always show copper either. I don't know that I have ever seen a splash copper pullet show any copper.

This guy didn't show much if any copper.





This guy showed a lot more copper. Wish I had been able to get chicks from him. Would have been nice to see what he would have produced.






Her roo has some cream/gold leaking and I think he has been crossed from a Copper. If she just has splash to work with she may never see the copper or the silver for that matter.

Nice Birds. Which rooster are you talking about with the cream/gold leaking? The blue rooster or my splash ones? I don't own the parents, just the splash offspring and two blue pullets which have beautiful silver coloring on their hackles. I guess I will just have to test breed with some blue or black to see what's there.

So my marans have stopped laying. I mean stopped. I'm guessing due to the cold weather. My other breeds are doing just fine. Anyone else experiencing the same? They are under lights at night too.

Definitely! Our snow is tried and true tested by us Iowans. Guaranteed to make you hate life for 8 months straight.

Yeap..... they will start back laying and then BOOM another cold snap and they quit..... No all of them but some just quit. My Rhodebars have only laid maybe 6 eggs in 3 weeks. I have 10 Marans hens and I get 1-3 eggs a day..... Those are not under light. The ones under lights do it too but bounce back quicker.

Thanks for the reply. It's just now getting to let's say 18 degrees at night. But very good to know it's just not my marans. I only have 2 of them so it's really noticeable when I don't have brown eggs ha!

My FBCM rooster got out and breed my white and blue silkies and my frizzle cochins does anyone have any idea what might hatch out if I incubate the eggs?

Haaa haaa. Silkies and that big rooster. At least mine is huge and my silkies are so tiny. Are they ok?

Everyone is fine I checked them over and luckly no injures.
