264 pages- I will never get through it! So, curiosity- are BCM's usually brooders? I know any hen can go broody, but I also know some are more prone then others, I never thought of BCMs as broody. Well, I got one! So, is is a breed trait, or is mine just special?

Countrywife , Welcome to the thread!! There are a few here that have very broody BCMs. Ruth would be one that comes to mind!

All I've read about the breed says they normally are not broody; guess the chooks forgot to read that part of the breed description!

BROODY - - - I have 1 out of 4 FBCM that have gone broody in the first year . . .. .

My roo tolerates it well, but I love to rub his comb

I started doing it to establish my dominance over him, but . . . I like the way his comb feels

I was trying to see if any of our BYC folks might be close enough to you that you could just buzz over
to someone's coop and pick up a couple of fluffy butt marans. However, I think you are the first person
from Vermont that I have met on BYC.
