Marans Thread - breed discussion & pictures are welcome!

Okay here is my first copper splash baby from my own blue copper. I am hoping its a she, seems like it because she is so demure and sweet.

Here is another pic of the copper splash with some hatchmates of varieties of blue copper colored chicks. One is dark almost black blue and the other 2 are more medium blues.

Love the math - NICE JOB ON with the math ! !
I see a future math problem on a test reflecting a chicken scenario ! !

Thanks, I will look into some "feed" grade fish meal. I am, also, going to see where I can find some BOSS. I need to find a resource other than the previous feed store that sold the seeds to me with bugs in them !

Chicks, I have one that throws an egg this color once every 2 or 3 months. The rest of the time they are darker like about a "5".
I wouldn't judge anything on her darkness until she has been at it a couple of weeks.

SHE is PRETTY... If her egg color isn't dark enough - - - time to find a roo out that came from a "DARK" egg. We BOTH might know somebody close to you that has OR had extra bcm roos that are about the same age as your little girl . . .

I have a nice Roo that I would be glad to put out there for stud service. . . . I would be glad to trade stud service for about a dozen eggs from this pretty girl - - - OH NO - - that Dang incubator is STUFFED FULL right now - - - 36 eggs in there as of tonight.
Maybe that sweet little leghorn of yours will be willing to go broody again
