I just feel like often, we can word things in a way that's not so...on the edge, and/or gives better feedback. For example (and this is a silly example, but you get the drift):
Not this,
"Man, that's the ugliest comb I've ever seen - are you sure that's even a Marans?"
but this,
"His comb has too many/not enough points."
NOt this,
"His legs are too short, and he's too narrow in the back."
but this,
"His legs are short in comparison to his overall balance; he could also use more width in the back." (this actually gives better feedback as a whole than the previous statement)
Okay, so some of you are rolling your eyes, and calling me mamby-pamby. That's just fine - but both examples get your point across; one is just a bit gentler. I'll stress that BOTH ARE FINE for posting here. Just sayin'......my opinion.
Wynette, I do not see a problem either way . I am just a straight to the point kind of person and believe in getting to the point and not trying to sugar coat. The snide remarks are what get me to turning red, and I am learning to let them roll off. The thing is at one time I respected these two people much in discussion Marans.
Good going Wynette,
I am old & have gotten a little tougher than I use to be but did find some of the criticism harsh. ..........On the other hand I do have to say I have learned so much that it is worth it. I just have to keep my big girl panties on so as not to be scared away..............!!!!! LOL

I also receive PM's and emails from people who are intimidated....but only because they are new and are not sure of themselves and don't want to post something they think might sound stupid or???. Not because some meanie is lurking on this thread. I belong to a couple more poultry sites and a very large motorsports site. They are by far much, much more aggressive and downright rude compared to this site. You almost have to murder someone to be banned on those sites, so I feel this place is very easy going and well moderated to insure the comfort of almost all posters.
I don't think the size of the thread should cause a problem. It has a lot of info and different views are always a good thing. In addition...I don't usually use emoticons, so people can sometimes take me wrong. I am aware of this, so I try to use the right wording, but sometimes I don't. I have to particularly watch that my very strange sense of humor does not come out in my posts. People don't always come across as "nice" even when they are trying to be informative and civil.

Some days, it would be prudent to wear Kevlar panties! It's all good though if you are learning!

Sheesh, I completely missed this is the proposed SOP. "nearly horizontal" - I don't see many folks with birds carrying their wings nearly horizontal - is anyone specifically working on this, or it this just a fine-tuning item for later one, as we move on?
Walt, I think you're completely correct - and a good reminder at this point might be...if you're unsure of someone's reply, simply ask for clarification.
