Thanks for the input Pinkchick! I was able to get some better pics. I read a bit about the tail angle just now in a 4-h pamphlet, it never occurred to me before you mentioned it! It depends on how he's standing; in which posture is the tail angle measured since the angle changes with his stance? The more upright he is the more upright his tail angle is.

Just a little on what I can tell you on the tail angle. If you notice in both of these pictures the tail appears to be a little low on both. Use an imaginary rectangular box over the picture and you will see the female has the box type body and the male is a little liking in the chest area of being full. also notice if you draw an imaginary line above the box from head to tail the , the tail will be lower then the head meaning the tail in this cage is low. These look like their tail angle is at most about 30* and this is not all bad as it is easier to raise the tail angle than it is to lower.
Does this male have any white under the hackle feathers, these males appear to have the wheaten influence from leg and hackle color. Don
