Don,
Seems to me that the coloring for the cocks are all over the place?? First it says, dark red, then the head is orange, no dark feathers, then it goes from orange to coppery?? Gray under coat, when all of them I've seen in pics look to have white fluff? I have yet to see one in person, so can't really get a good grip on what they are trying to convey. It just seems all over the map though when it comes to the color of the roos. The hen not so bad. What are your thoughts on it? PM me if more comfortable.
Debbi, Just looks like who ever wrote this proposed Standard was out in ya ya land. There is so much that does not make sense and I will have to wait until someone does something about it if they will. What I would like to know how are they going to submit this mumbo jumbo to the APA for consideration. Don
Don
It is easy to criticize people, we all do it. However, the Marans Chicken Clubs USA has a standards committee which wrote the standard and that was shown to the paid members of the club. It was then in turn shown to the yahoo group members for their comments. I believe you were or are a member of the club and could have made any comments at any time. If you are not happy with the standard, I'm sorry, it's been written and voted on. There was plenty of opportunity over the years for you to start a club and to write the standard yourself.
I have had several e-mails recently complaining about your comments. I will not add more.
This is the proposed standard
