Hi Debbi

If you had read the messages then you would have seen the comments made as the standard was being accepted unless you joined after it was all being discussed.

Bev

Wait. Do you mean to say that a person must have computer service to be an active member? Am I reading this correctly?

Good question Kathy! I just went to the yahoo group to ask about the input, and hee is the response I got.

Re: [MaransChickClubUSA] Input on SOPs??

Hiya Debbi --

We will be soliciting comments and input from the paid club membership as we get to each standard. We'll be presenting the last portion of the BC standard to the list, probably in another week or so. We've done the male and female shape standards already, and we are finishing up the color standards.

I've been a member since Sept. 15th, 2010, and have never seen an annoucement like this. Will it be a noticeable announcement? I would think that all paid members would be notified by e-mail prior to any final decisions, rather than by a yahoo group. Seems like if the club can mail out election ballots, they ought to be able to send individual e-mails in regards to such issues?? Or at least post the option to vote on the issues on the web site? I would hope the members have as much to say about a SOP as they do about the elected officials?

For some reason, these posts and quotes are not getting replicated as written. The above response to me from the yahoogroup was from Ione (amazondoc)

Yellow feet.
I am not sure if I am nuts or not...But I swear I had 1 chick with yellow feet, and once she started laying/matured they were pink/white..??

I know skin color does not change but? Now I have none with yellow feet?

They can be split for yellow and white skin. If it was born yellow and turned white, it most likely is. If you breed that bird to a yellow skinned bird, you'll get more with yellow skin. Cull your white skin as you go, if yellow is the goal. (sorry, I don't know what Marans should be, but wanted to respond to the skin color to help as I've seen this with araucana too)

Nope, sorry. I don't see any blues in any pictures. Maybe if they are really dark, dark blue and it didn't photograph very well - but all I see is black.

Yep, I thought the same thing - MAYBE on the one one the step. I don't have blue Marans but I have blues of lots of other breeds and they are always very clearly BLUE from hatch - some light some dark but easy to spot blue.

Hi Debbi

The electral vote is a secrete vote, that is why you were sent the voting paper through the post. Discussion of the standard is an open thing for everyone to discuss and agree upon.

Hi

Some chicks look black when they hatch but as they grow older they can look a very dark blue and usually have black hackles, saddle and tail feathers.

The pictures of the chicks are out standing pictures, congratulations on your shots.
