its starting to get cold here to, in the 30,s ..... a few years back when we started the first of our wheaten marans it toook 10 months to get the first egg i started running a light in the coop for 2 hours in the evening and i up the Protein level ,,but its been almost 2 months since we got a egg from wheaten they all starting molting process about 2 months ago and feathers are almost completely in soo I hope to have some eggs soon !

when they say (i think they say )in the apa you have to have been breeding for 5 years or something like that they dont mean the same 6 hens and a roo for 5 years they mean from generation to next generation breeding true ?i have never entered a bird in a show but I would like to some day but it seems to me it should say instead of 5 years of breeding it should say 8 generations of breeding true ,,,,i was just wondering on others thoughts about this
